I will also be posting an update everyday of all of the emails I send. PIRACY IS ILLEGAL SO STOP!!

  2. The sad part is, there are a whole lot of smaller and underground bands (my couple most definitely included) that are really glad to be a part of something like this -- and are very glad for a promotion channel such as Stonerobixxx.

As a musician, promoter and a small record label owner I would ask you not to be deluded into thinking that what you are doing is objectively "good", kind sir.

The latest NeYo and GaGa album is safe. We are not interested.

  3. really stupid. it's good that it seems you idiot have soon lost the interest to play copper. stonerobixxx does great work for all these fabulous underground bands which are still unknown.

  4. Congrats you've done something against the apparently evil baby-eating pirates!!!! Now Obama (or Romney) will give you your Nobel Peace Prize and congratulate you on your contribution to society which is laughibly futile at best in your triad against pirates. You are a hero, so pat yourself on the back and enjoy the pungent stench of your own farts you self-righteous festering shit-tick. And just know that you are only make the entertainment industry stronger and giving them more power over our lives. They don't care about you or us or even the bands you are apparently doing a service to, they just care about their money. I doubt you'll read this, but I pray to what ever god is out there to bestow upon you all of the worse things in life. I hope you suffer long agonizing days. Congrats again.

Oh and a warning, beware of who you step on. Some people might not be so nice....
And no you are not safe behind your blog.....asshole.

  5. Stonerobixxx is doing a solid for all these underground bands. His intention is not to steal and leak, but to shine light and expose. If it weren't for Stonerobixxx a lot of the bands he supports wouldn't have as much on their own. I myself am a collector and enthusiast. I've purchased God knows how much from the bands he has posted. These bands have him to thank for the exposure and I have the bands to thank for some serious Drone, Doom, Sludge, and Stoner Rock!

  6. Hi,

I work in the Music industry for a Non Profit, which I will remain unnamed, that exists to help smaller known bands. Also, I'm the drummer for a very small stoner / blues rock band from Memphis, TN.

I can empathize with bands that depend on their CD revenue to exist as a band, but the truth of the matter is that the industry has changed -- an influx of home recording equipment has flooded the market. This flood has led to blogs such as Stonerobixxx to search the endless sea of recordings on the Internet ... which can ultimately lead to gaining more fans and more exposure.

If bands wish to have their music removed, which would probably remain unknown without blogs such as Stonerobixx, they can. Also, if they’re smart, they’ll protect themselves with a PRO.

I’m only speaking from personal experiences with blogs that have pushed our music out their and hope that blogs such as Stonerobixx continue to exist with good intentions in spreading more underground music.

    Thanks

  7. The former Stonerobixxx blog had turned me on to literally DOZENS of bands I would never have heard of in the last few years. Some I liked, some I didn't, many I loved. Many I've now sought out their music for purhase, and a few others I've gone to see at gigs, solely as a result of this blog. It's pretty misguided for whomever you are with your righteous vitriol to put forth so much energy into something that was rather quite positive. As "Heavy Eyes" says above....if bands wished to have their music removed, they could have done so. Concentrate all that animosity elsewhere!

  8. Thanks for your "efforts." The case is pretty much this:

Before the SR blog hit, I wouldn't have had an outlet to these bands AT ALL. Once I did, I continued to purchase music, including titles mentioned from SR site.

Thanks SR for the great work you put in over the years. I learned alot. And to the owner of THIS blog: you need to be more subtle in your approach to piracy. It's not a black and white scenario, and each band/individual will have their different approach. But I can't understand what motivates someone to peddle hate like you. Finally musicians can have a direct line to their fans unlike in previous generations. Do you know how gratifying it has been to buy a record via paypal direct from the artist, and be communicating WITH THE ARTIST THEMSELVES in a place halfway across the world?
Obviously not. Thanks for nothing and please look at some history books. McCarthy Era, prohibition, the rise of the silesian weavers, patent strangleholds, these are all things you could learn from.

  9. The site has been gone for a few years now but guess how many sprung up in its place? Lots. You've only cut off one head of the hydra.

  11. Stonerobixxx got me into at least two dozen bands that I now have on Google Play Music / Spotify. I've bought quite a few albums and attended many, many concerts as a direct result of this blog.

    1. Could you maybe pass on a few (of Stonerobixxx's) recommendations? I was looking for a dose of underground doom and only just discovered the blog is dead. What a loss.

  12. I completely stand behind all the criticism against this putrid blog post, but seeing the profile name of the author, this could easily be a troll's work. Why would anyone but a joker call himself 'The Man', a derogatory term for authority, and then make childish, hateful threats to support the recording industry?
